Interview with Cormac Cullinane

Not many can say that they were handpicked by the Steven Spielberg, but Cormac Cullinane can. Spielberg had selected Cormac for his role in the new TNT show, Public Morals. Premiering tonight, August 25th, Public Morals is an American police drama set in New York City in the 1960s. Public Morals centers around Officer Terry Muldoon (Ed Burns), who is determined to raise his sons to be honest and hardworking as he deals with the city’s dark underbelly. Cormac will play Muldoon’s oldest son James, who goes against the grain on everything his cop father expects from him. James and Terry’s storyline is based off of Ed Burns’ (who also wrote and directed the series) own true relationship with his cop father. In addition to acting, Cormac is an amazing musician, who has performed with Mariah Carey, and for President Obama. Glitter recently sat down with Cormac to talk about Public Morals, the one thing his fans don’t know about him, and his favorite thing to do on his downtime.

GLITTER: When did you first start acting?

CORMAC: Well, I began performing as a singer and musician at a very young age, but didn’t start acting professionally until about three years ago. I started off in a theatre arts camp, and when we performed, there was a talent scout in the audience. I auditioned for her, and she wanted to sign me. And so began my acting career!

GLITTER: What can you tell us about the new TNT series, Public Morals?

CORMAC: Public Morals is a cool new show set in 1960s New York. It revolves around my dad ,(Ed Burns) who is a police officer, dealing with “public morals”, and the affect it has on his relationship with his family.

Cormac Cullinane Plays the Guitar for Us!

We love this video that actor and musician, Cormac Cullinane, did for us. He’s playing a blues song he had taught himself earlier today. Love it so much!

GLITTER: Is it true that you can play six instruments at a professional level?

CORMAC: Yeah, it is! I began playing piano when I was two and a half, and after a while, I started to branch off to guitar, then from guitar to drums. Now, along with those, I can play the trumpet, organ, and ukulele!

GLITTER: Have you also done theater as well?

CORMAC: I actually started my career in theater. I appeared in The Dubliners: A Quartet and was the lead in an off Broadway musical, Timmy the Great.

GLITTER: What is one thing your fans might not know about you?

CORMAC: I’m an adrenaline junkie! I love doing parkour and free running. I just got a couple of my flips down!

GLITTER: What is it like being a teen heartthrob?

CORMAC: I’m really flattered by it as I’ve never really thought of myself as a teen heartthrob!

GLITTER: If you could ask anyone dead or alive one question, who would you ask, what would you ask them, and why?

CORMAC: I would ask John Lennon what his thoughts are on modern music, because he was such a huge influence in the music industry.

GLITTER: What is your favorite thing to do on your downtime?

CORMAC: I love writing and playing music on my downtime, and whenever I’m not writing, I’m hanging out with my friends. I started to get into football, because I love being active

GLITTER: What is one thing you can’t live without?

CORMAC: Ooo, that’s a hard one. But I think I’d have to go with my guitar. Without it, I’d be lost!

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

CORMAC: I think self-love is recognizing that sometimes, you have to take care of yourself before you take care of others, which isn’t always easy.

GLITTER: What do you love the most about summer?

CORMAC: I love the amount of free time that I have. I love going to the beach and relaxing in the sun, and that it stays light out until nine o’clock! Since I have so much free time, I can really focus on my music and singing, which is a huge passion of mine.

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?

CORMAC: My fans can follow my Instagram (@cormaccullinane), my Twitter (@cormacullinane) and my Facebook (Cormac Cullinane). Check it all out!
