Bianca Santos on The Fosters
Bianca Santos is best known for playing Lexi on the ABC Family hit TV show, The Fosters. Bianca recently sat down with Glitter to talk about the upcoming season, what she loves most about her character, dealing with heartbreak, playing Lucy on MTV’s Happyland, her new film, The D.U.F.F., and three fun facts you might have not known about her. Did you know Bianca could speak three languages fluently? We didn’t till now. Read on to find out more about this talented actress.
GLITTER: Tell us about your role as Lexi on The Fosters. Will fans be seeing more of Lexi in future episodes?
BIANCA: Lexi is the longtime loyal best friend to Marianna Foster and simultaneously Marianna’s twin brother’s girlfriend. Although that causes a strain on the friendship, they work through it. From then on Lexi and Jesus are able to enjoy their young love….for the most part! You unfortunately won’t be seeing much more of Lexi unless her parents let her visit the US anytime soon!
GLITTER: What do you love most about Lexi’s character? Do you relate to her in any way?
BIANCA: She’s strong and she’s sassy and she’s loyal. I think that’s very true and close to who I am. Lexi fights for what is right but also lets her emotions lead her. I think that’s how we’re different, because I’m a little more analytical versus emotional.
GLITTER: In the show, your character dealt with a heartbreak after breaking up with Jesus. What advice can you give to those dealing with a breakup?
BIANCA: I think after a breakup it’s important to surround yourself around people that love you. It’s also a great time to take a step back and reevaluate yourself and really work on loving yourself. We’ll always have that thought, “Oh I won’t be able to find anyone else,” but in reality we will. You never know what could be right around the corner.
GLITTER: You recently just booked a new film, The D.U.F.F.. What can you tell us about that film?
BIANCA: The D.U.F.F. stands for designated ugly fat friend. It’s a story about a girl who realizes she’s The D.U.F.F. of her group of friends and goes on a funny little journey to escape her fate. I play Casey, the best friend to Mae Whitman’s D.U.F.F. character. It’s going to be hilarious!
GLITTER: Tell us about your lead character, Lucy, in MTV’s Happyland.
BIANCA: Lucy is the smart and responsible teen who works at the Happyland theme park and is eager to leave to anywhere but where she is. She takes care of her single mother, friends, and furry park characters. As the show begins, some new people come into the park that make Lucy question whether or not she should leave and drama unfolds!
GLITTER: How is filming a TV series different that filming a movie?
BIANCA: Sometimes it can feel quite the same. The movies and TV show I shot took the same amount of time to finish so the experiences paralleled. I think the difference with TV is you half expect to work with the same people if you get more seasons. But then again there are sequels 😉
GLITTER: What made you want to become an actress?
BIANCA: I always knew I wanted to be one, but I didn’t quite think it would actually happen. Especially growing up in LA you don’t know too many success stories. I figured I would go to college and get a normal 9 to 5 but I’m pleasantly surprised it didn’t go that route!
GLITTER: Do you have a secret crush on anyone?
BIANCA: Maybe. 😉
GLITTER: Who would you love to work with in the future? Anyone you look up to?
BIANCA: Emma Stone and/or Jennifer Lawrence. I love all that they’ve accomplished with their age. I crave to work with them and have similar career paths as them. Plus they seem funny and amazing!
GLITTER: What are three fun facts about you that you can share with fans?
BIANCA:
1) I’m trilingual. I speak fluent Spanish and Portuguese.
2) I’m super near-sighted. On set I leave my contacts out and it’s always hilarious when people far away think I’m ignoring them!
3) I love doing impromptu dance parties every moment I can. Enough said.
