Actress, Mackenzie Aladjem, recently sat down with Glitter to talk about what it’s like to work with Edie Falco in Showtime’s Nurse Jackie, who she plays, what shows she’s been on in the past, and who inspires her the most!

GLITTER: How did you get into acting?

MACKENZIE: When I was really little, I would sing and dance along with my babysitter’s daughter and loved it.  When I was three or four, I auditioned for some local children’s theater and then when I was siz, I auditioned for the National Tour of Annie and got the role of Molly.

GLITTER: What is it like working with Edie Falco in Nurse Jackie?

MACKENZIE: So great – she is so sweet and funny!  She was so professional on set but also caring and I learned so much just watching her.

GLITTER: Who do you play?

MACKENZIE: I play Fiona Peyton, who Jackie’s youngest daughter.

GLITTER: What other shows or movies have you been on in the past?

MACKENZIE: I was on All My Children for about a year and a half, until it ended, which was such a great experience.  I have also worked on The Middle, Grey’s Anatomy, Parenthood, About a Boy, Workaholics and CSI: Miami.  As far as films go, I played Matthew McConaughey’s daughter in The Lincoln Lawyer.  I was also in Of Two Minds and Sweet Surrender, which are two TV movies.

GLITTER: Have you been on Broadway as well?

MACKENZIE: I haven’t been on Broadway, yet, but hopefully someday.  I was in The Broadway National Tour of Annie when I was seven and eight-years-old.  I played Molly and it was so much fun so I would love to get the chance to do something like it again.

GLITTER: Do you sing as well?

MACKENZIE: I do sing, but don’t get to practice as much as I would like to.  I have a song on iTunes from when I was younger, called “Boomerang.”

GLITTER: Is it true that you also dance competitively?

MACKENZIE: Yes, I dance competitively. I’m a member of Independence Dance Company, and I just made the dance team for the high school I will be attending next year!

GLITTER: Do you have any hidden talents?

MACKENZIE: Hmm…If I told you they wouldn’t be hidden!!

GLITTER: Who inspires you the most?

MACKENZIE: Shailene Woodley- She is a great actress who is active in caring for our environment and empowering young girls.

GLITTER: What’s your definition of self-love?

MACKENZIE: Self-love is believing in yourself, knowing that you have something to contribute to this world and doing your best to live up to your potential so that you can make a difference.

GLITTER: What other projects are you currently working on now?

MACKENZIE: I just shot an episode of Black Jesus for Adult Swim and I will begin filming an independent film in a couple weeks, but I can’t say what it is just yet because the paperwork hasn’t been finalized!

GLITTER: Do you have any plans for the summer?

MACKENZIE: This summer I will be working on the movie, dancing and learning choreography for next competition season, hoping to learn how to play the ukulele and practice my singing, hanging out with my friends at the beach and Disneyland, and also going to NYC for a week to see as many Broadway shows as I can!
