Interview with Gail B. Soltys
Actress, Gail B. Soltys, stars in the new Nickelodeon series, Talia in the Kitchen, as Debbie Fuccinelli. She has appeared in numerous national print and internet campaigns, several commercials and many short films. Gail recently sat down with Glitter to talk about her new role as Debbie, who she’d love to have dinner with, her favorite fashion trend and a few things that her fans might not know about her. GLITTER: Did you always want to be an actress?
GAIL: Yes, for as long as I can remember. When I was little my parents said I would always get dressed up in dresses, heels, feather boa’s, hats anything I could find and I would have my family sit down. Then I’d have one of my sisters introduce me by saying “Presenting…..Gail Soltys” and I’d put on a show. I was in plays in pre school and middle school. At age seven I started asking my parents to be an actress. They didn’t know anything about the business so they kept asking me to try something else maybe a sport etc. But I knew in my heart what I wanted to be so I stayed persistent. It took a few years but at the age of ten they finally agreed. I got an agent and started taking acting classes, workshops, reading books, watching videos and studying other actors through movies and TV.
GLITTER: Who do you play on Nickelodeon’s Talia in the Kitchen?
GAIL: I play Debbie Fuccinelli. The popular, snobby villainous, who thinks her families restaurant, Fuccinelli’s is royalty. Debbie feels threatened by Talia and Lola’s and will stop at nothing to shut Lola’s down and stop Talia.
GLITTER: Who would you love to guest star on a future episode?
GAIL: Definitely Melissa McCarthy. She’s fearless when it comes to acting and so funny. I think I could learn so much from her and have the best time on set.
GLITTER: What do you love to do in your spare time?
GAIL: I love to spend time with my family and friends. We go to the beach, paddle board, surf and fish. I also love going to the movies with my sisters.
GLITTER: Do you have any favorite hobbies?
GAIL: I like to paddle board and roller blade.
GLITTER: What is something fans may not know about you?
GAIL: I’m a lefty. I was born on Friday the 13th and I’m named after both of my grandmothers, Gail and Barbara.
GLITTER: Favorite fashion trend?
GAIL: I love all different types of style but lean more toward classic looks . Depending on where I’m going and what I’m feeling…I love a great dress, mini or romper if I’m going to a party or an event. If it’s just an everyday type of look you’d probably see me in a great denim short paired with a cute ankle boot, floral kimono, tank top or blouse, my favorite floppy hat, a big purse and accessories. Gotta have accessories! =)
GLITTER: Favorite sport?
GAIL: I love watching football with my family. We really get into it. Lot’s of yelling and screaming food and fun!
GLITTER: If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
GAIL: I would have to say Audrey Hepburn. She was so beautiful, elegant and classic. Not only was she a film and fashion icon but a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. To be talented, beautiful and have such a huge caring heart to help others is really inspiring to me.
GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?
GAIL: To me self-love is being a caring, loving person who is positive and confident. Everyday is a gift. We should start our day being thankful and happy and hopefully it will be contagious to the people around us.
GLITTER: Do you have any new projects coming up that you can tell us about?
GAIL: Right now I’m working really hard on Talia in the Kitchen and enjoying every minute of it!!!
GLITTER: What would be your dream role in the future?
GAIL: My dream is to be in feature films and appear in different genres. I would love to learn and work along side esteemed actors and actresses like Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Emma Watson,Tom Hanks and Anthony Hopkins. They light up the screen, have so much skill and are so inspirational.
