Interview with Daniel Skye
Glitter recently sat down with singer and songwriter, Daniel Skye, to talk about how old he was when he wrote his first song, how he creates his lyrics, what inspired his new song, “Maybe,” his upcoming EP, and something his fans might not know about him. Read on to find out more about this talented singer and songwriter.
GLITTER: How old were you when you wrote your first song?
DANIEL: I’ve been playing guitar for about 1 year now. So I was thirteen when I started writing songs.
GLITTER: How do you create your lyrics?
DANIEL: It’s different every time. Sometimes the vocal melody comes first. I’ll just pick up my guitar and start playing or I might have a concept in my head, write down some lyrics and go from there.
GLITTER: Tell us more about your new song, “Maybe.” What inspired those lyrics?
DANIEL: I’ve never had a real girlfriend/relationship, but I think everyone can relate to the issues of having feelings for someone and not being sure what to do about them.
GLITTER: What can you tell us about your upcoming EP?
DANIEL: As of now, I’ve just been in the studio writing and recording songs. I’ve released two singles so far, but hope to put out an EP or an album soon!
GLITTER: Favorite appearance so far?
DANIEL: My favorite show so far was at the Best Buy theater in New York. It was the coolest venue I’ve ever been to. Would love to go back there sometime.
GLITTER: Who is your dream collaboration with?
DANIEL: I would say collaborating with Taylor Swift would be awesome. She’s definitely one of my favorite artists as well as one of my favorite performers.
GLITTER: Who inspires you?
DANIEL: I don’t have any specific inspirations. Great artists with great songs inspire me every day.
GLITTER: Do you do anything special for your fans?
DANIEL: I usually go out before or after my show, and try to meet as many fans as possible. I also love reading and responding to everyone’s comments! It’s the fans that inspire me and make everything possible. Love you all!
GLITTER: Do you have anything your fans might not know about you?
DANIEL: I’m an expert Monopoly player, and I used to be really good at card tricks.
GLITTER: Any new projects in the works that you can tell us about?
DANIEL: I’ll be coming out with a lot more music and definitely more tours to come.
