Lovey James Discusses her musical influences

Empty Bench

Singer/songwriter, Lovey James, recently sat down with Glitter to discuss her new single, “Rollercoaster,” what it was like to film on an actual roller-coaster, what fans can expect from her upcoming music, her anti-bullying message, and what’s next for this talented singer.

GLITTER: Congratulations on releasing your new single, “Rollercoaster!” What was the inspiration for this song?

LOVEY: Thank you! I just wanted to put out a fun song for the summer that had a cool beat and wanted to make people dance!

GLITTER: What was it like filming the video at an actual amusement park?

LOVEY: It was so cool! I grew up at this amusement park so was really familiar with the whole thing. It was such a great experience to share with my friends and even some fans who came out (even though it was one of the hottest days of the year!) It was really fun!

GLITTER: What can fans expect from your upcoming music?

LOVEY: I have two songs that I haven’t been able to release yet but I can’t wait to share them with everyone. One is a total power ballad and the other is a fun girly song about boys of course!

GLITTER: Is there any particular song you’re most excited to release?

LOVEY: I’m super excited to release the girly fun song I talked about just because it’s something different then I’ve done before, new beats, cool new vocals. I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks!

GLITTER: How did you get started with singing? Was this your passion from the start? Who is your biggest inspiration?

LOVEY: I started singing when I was just eight-years-old at the vocal division part of dance competitions that I competed in as well. I was really involved with dance at the time and didn’t really think of singing as anything more than a passion. It was my dance teacher at the time who actually suggested I take a voice lesson from her. I competed in many different coal competitions, and ended up in the recording studio making original music with fans all over the work call because of her. She started training me when I was eight and still trains me to this day.

GLITTER: What is the best thing a fan has ever done for you?

LOVEY: I think one of the best things a fan has ever done for me is bake me my absolute favorite cupcakes for my birthday (poppy seed with raspberry filling) it was such a sweet gesture and so thoughtful of her! Plus they were super yummy.

GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone at all, who would you love to collaborate with the most?

LOVEY: I would absolutely love to collaborate with either Ariana Grande or Jessie J. I love both of their unique styles and think it would be so cool to mash our voices together. They both inspire me so much and I hope I can reach the level of success that they have one day.

GLITTER: Who are some of your musical influences?

LOVEY: Lately I have been obsessing over quite a few artists just because of their originality and way they go about the music industry. I have a lot of respect for Ariana Grande, Jessie J, Meghan Trainor, One Direction, and Katy Perry. They’re probably my top 5 favorite at the moment!

GLITTER: Do you have a favorite genre of music?

LOVEY: I sing pop music so naturally that’s what I love. But growing up I was actually trained singing Broadway so you can definitely find me breaking out into a Disney song every once in a while.

GLITTER: What are some of your favorite current songs at the moment?

LOVEY: I love “Night Changes” by One Direction, as well as, “Title” by Meghan Trainor, and “Burnin’ up” Buy Jessie J.

GLITTER: How would you describe your style?

LOVEY: I would describe my music style as pop with personality. I’m definitely not afraid to sing a big ballad and show my range.

GLITTER: You’re also big with anti-bullying. What campaigns have you worked on and what can other kids do to get involved in smashing bullying as well?

LOVEY: I have been a part of so many cool campaigns that pledge against bullying. They all have so many cool projects all around the world. Some that I have participated in include; “Safe Text or No Text” with KidzBop, The No Bull Challenge, and more.

GLITTER: What do you have planned next? Any new things fans can keep a lookout for?

LOVEY: I actually auditioned for American Idol recently and got a golden ticket to Hollywood! I’m so excited and can’t wait to see where this journey takes me and my music career! Keep a look out for me on you TV!
