Eva Universe has already made quite a name for herself in the world of dance and pop music, grabbing the attention of heavy-hitters Snoop Dogg, Lupe Fiasco and producer J.R. Rotem (Rhianna, Nicki Minaj, Meghan Trainor). She saw great success collaborating with Gucci Mane, New Boyz and Tyga on her early singles, performing (with official DJ – Power 10’6s DJ Inferno) alongside the likes of Nas, Alicia Keys, and The Wanted at the 2012 Official American Music Awards After Party. She is currently performing at select California high schools on Nick Cannon’s Celebrity High Magazine Tour! Read on to find out more about this talented singer/songwriter.

GLITTER: What was it like to make the Billboard Dance chart with “Not My Daddy”?

EVA: I was so excited! This felt like such a big accomplishment! The plaque is still hanging in my room.

GLITTER: Who have you collaborated with in the past?

EVA: I’ve been so fortunate to get to work with some amazing people! I’ve worked with Gucci Mane, Tyga, Snoop Dogg, JR Rotem, Scott Storch, Pooh Bear, Lupe Fiasco, etc..

GLITTER: How would you describe your sound?

EVA: I usually say I do Pop Dance music. I love classic pop so I know I belong in that genre, but these days house/dance music and remixes have gotten huge and they play a big role in an artists repertoire of songs. I love ballads and slower emotional songs, so I write a lot of those. But I also have a lot of fun, upbeat dance music. Gotta cover all bases!

GLITTER: What’s it like performing at select locations for Nick Cannon’s Celebrity High Magazine Tour?

EVA: The tour has been awesome! We have so much fun going around to all the different schools performing for and getting to know the students. I usually end up keeping in touch with a lot of them on social media, which is very meaningful for me. They are a young and honest crowd! Its been different than the shows I’m used to, but its been amazing!

GLITTER: What can you tell us about your song, “Trapped”?

EVA: “Trapped” holds a very special meaning to me. It emphasizes my own struggles and it can do the same for anyone the listens to the song. We’re all going through something and I feel this song can relate to anyone. For me I’ve dealt with a tough eating disorder that stemmed from depression, fear, and insecurities. It highlights the fact that I’ve been trapped inside my own head and my own mean thoughts about myself. Its something that I kept secret for a long time but now I am open and honest about it, I still struggle with these problems, but I’m working on myself. I want people to get to know me and draw strength from my story.

GLITTER: What is your definition of self-love?

EVA: Self love is not perfection! We all try so hard to fix our flaws and become what society thinks we should be. I think self love is embracing yourself and realizing that it doesn’t matter what others think of you. As long as you like yourself and are nice to yourself, and you have your core group of loved ones around that can love and believe in you, you’re on your way to a happy and healthy life.

GLITTER: Are you working on a new EP or album that you can tell us about?

EVA: I’m working on a new EP! We don’t have all the details figured out at the moment, but you can definitely expect something probably towards the end of summer.

GLITTER: Who is your dream collaboration with?

EVA: It’s so hard to choose one, so I’ll give you a few… Bruno Mars, Britney, Beyonce, Demi Lovato, Gaga, the list gos on!

GLITTER: Who inspires you?

EVA: Musically, everyone I just named above, I love them and their music! And everyone else I listened to growing up, which is listed below.

GLITTER: Who did you grow up listening to?

EVA: When I was very young, it was Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Spics Girls, ‘N Sync, Backstreet Boys. As I got a bit older, I got into ACDC, Queen, Sublime.

GLITTER: What do you have planned for the upcoming year?

EVA: I will continue on the Nick Cannon tour for at least a few more months. I have been in the studio recording a lot and we will be releasing an EP in the near future!

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?
EVA: I love hearing from my fans and I try to write back to them as much as possible! Facebook, twitter, Instagram is @EvasUniverse. My website is www.EvaUniverse.com.
