REAL PEOPLE: Callie Reiff,15-Year-Old Fashion Blogger

Glitter recently sat down with 15-year-old fashion blogger, Callie Reiff, to talk about how she got into modeling, her blog, Callie’s Street Chic, her past as a ballerina, her love for DJing, and how to look chic without breaking the bank. Read on to find out more about this extremely talented DJ, fashion blogger, and all around amazing teen!

GLITTER: When did you first start modeling?

CALLIE: I started modeling when I was seven. My mom was a swimwear designer, whose swimsuits were featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated. So it seems like I was always meant to be a part of the fashion world.

GLITTER: What campaigns have you been the face for?

CALLIE: H&M, Joe Fresh, Juicy Couture, Uniqlo, Target and Bloomingdales.

GLITTER: Is it true that you used to be a ballerina for the NYC Ballet at Lincoln Center?

CALLIE: Yes!! Ahhh, I remember those days. I was the Claire in The Nutcracker, the lead in Double Feature and all of the ballets that featured kids. I loved performing and still do. I think that’s why I’m addicted to DJing!

GLITTER: When did you first start DJing?

CALLIE: I first started when I was twelve. I took one class and fell in love with it. I begged my dad to buy me turntables and I haven’t stopped since!

GLITTER: Do you play any instruments?

CALLIE: Yes, I play the drums. I started that when I was 10 and made these silly drum covers playing to One Direction and Justin Bieber songs just for my friends. I uploaded them to YouTube and now they have over 20,000 views!

GLITTER: Who have you opened up for in the past?

CALLIE: I have opened for the DJ duo GTA, Ed Sheeran, Austin Mahone, Greyson Chance and Emblem 3.

GLITTER: Tell us more about your blog, Callie’s Street Chic. When and why did you start that blog?

CALLIE: I started CSS in February 2013, when I was thirteen. The idea came to me when friends and some of their moms stopped me and ask where I got my clothes or how I came up with the look I was wearing. It was then that I realized how lucky I am to be surrounded by and learn from amazing stylists in the industry. As a model, I am always paying attention to stylists, editors, and what makes a great image.

GLITTER: What do you think are the latest fashion trends?

CALLIE: So much has changed that I don’t know that there’s one specific trend right now. An eclectic mixes of patterns and prints, and a whole variety of leg openings and pant lengths are on trend. If anything, I think there are more skirts and dresses for spring, and of course great new shoe trends. I have always loved the creepers and now they’re everywhere. There is also a lot of festival clothing for spring: gladiator sandals, accessories like great signature jewelry and cool hats, and of course cut-offs.

GLITTER: What is one fashion trend that keeps coming back that you wish would just die already?

CALLIE: Culottes. I don’t think very many people look good in them.

GLITTER: How do you style the perfect street style look?

CALLIE: A street styled look is effortless….it’s a mix of high and low, designer and mass. It’s vintage and modern worn together to create a new way of dressing. It can be colored or muted but It’s always chic.

GLITTER: Do you have any advice for our readers who want to look chic without breaking the bank?

CALLIE: Yes!! Pick the top must haves for the season. Only spend on the items you think can be worn again and again like THE best pair of jeans or THE great jacket to complete an outfit. The rest can be found at any of the great fast fashion stores like Zara, Forever 21, H&M, Topshop, Aritzia. For my peers, there are tons of smaller sites like Pixie market for eclectic pieces, and Daily Look for basics.

GLITTER: Are you working on new projects you can tell us about?

CALLIE: I’m always working on my music, and from a fashion standpoint, I’m working on developing my own capsule of tee shirts and beanies. I can’t live without either one of those in my closet so I hope everyone else will like them too!
