GLITTER: When did you first start acting?

JADA: I started acting when I was really young. I was always putting on living room musicals and performances for my family. Then when I was about seven, I started acting in our community musical theater and plays. We moved to L.A. when I was nine, and that’s when I started getting into film and T.V.

GLITTER: What’s it like acting on ABC Family’s Melissa and Joey?

JADA: It’s amazing! I was literally crying when I got the call that I booked it. I have had so much fun getting to work on the show with everyone!

GLITTER: What is it like having Joey as your TV dad and Melissa as your TV step-mom?

JADA: It’s a dream come true! I was so lucky because Joey and Melissa are the sweetest people ever! I was a huge fan of Blossom and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch and was beyond excited to get to work with them both.

GLITTER: Who has been your favorite co-star?

JADA: I don’t have a favorite. Everyone is so nice and sweet to me! If I ever need help with something, or have a question, they all help me out. I couldn’t ask to work with a nicer cast!

GLITTER: What can you tell us about this upcoming season of Melissa & Joey and the upcoming 100th episode?

JADA: I can’t give too much away because it’s a surprise, but I promise you, there will be lots of laughs! I am thrilled that Melissa & Joey made it 100 episodes! Not a lot of shows get to that mile marker anymore, so I am very lucky to be a part of one that does!

GLITTER: Is it true that we’ll hear you sing on the new season of Melissa & Joey?

JADA: Yes it is! It’s always been a dream of mine to sing on a show. When I heard I got to sing, I was shocked! And to get to sing with Joey – it can’t get any better!

GLITTER: What has been your most memorable role to date?

JADA: I would for sure have to say Melissa & Joey. I think one of the reasons why was because I learned so much on set and I got to spend so much time with the cast. They all are amazing!

GLITTER: Will you ever record an album with your brother?

JADA: It was my first sitcom in front of a live audience too, so that has been really fun! Even though it would be fun, I don’t think so, but they say to “never say never!” We’re completely different styles of artist, but we will for sure always collaborate together and harmonize for each other.

GLITTER: We loved your Great Grandma’s Bran Muffins recipe you shared last time. Do you have any other favorite recipe that you can share with us?

JADA: Here is another favorite of mine. It’s also my great grandma’s. It’s for her Sugar Cookies! They’re delicious!

Great Grandma’s Sour Cream Sugar Cookies

3 c sugar

1 c shortening

2 c heavy sour cream (I use a pint heavy whipping cream and add 2 Tbsp. lemon juice instead of sour cream but you can use either)

4 eggs

1 tsp vanilla & 1 tsp lemon extract

1 tsp salt

2 tsp soda

4 tsp baking powder

8 cups flour–more or less

Make dough:

Grease and flour a cookie sheet.

Roll out, cut and sprinkle or leave plain and frost after cooling.

Bake in 375ʼ oven (don’t over bake) They’ll be light, starting to brown a little around edge. These are a soft cookie. Enjoy!

GLITTER: Did you watch the Grammys this year? Do you think the right person won album of the year and song of the year? Did the people you think would win were the ones that won a Grammy?

JADA: From all of the media talk, I was thinking Sam Smith or Beyoncé would for sure win Album of the Year. I was surprised when they announced Beck, but he’s an amazing artist and I was really happy about it! Everyone in that category is insanely talented and all of them deserved to be recognized.

GLITTER: Were you able to see a Taylor Swift concert live yet? We know you said you’d love to see her live and are curious if you have since the last time we spoke.

JADA: I haven’t yet. I am hoping I get tickets to see her for my birthday though!…Hint to mom. Only two more days to make it happen!

GLITTER: Do you have any other projects you can tell us about yet?

JADA: So far this Pilot Season has been crazy busy for me. I have been auditioning a lot for new shows, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that something will happen with one of those.
