INTERVIEW WITH JUSTIN KELLY
Glitter Magazine recently sat down with Justin Kelly, who plays Wes on TeenNick’s Open Heart to talk about Open Heart, what other shows he’s been on in the past (you may remember him as Jake Martin from Degrassi: The Next Generation), what movies or shows he wished he could’ve been a part of, and what you can see him in next.
GLITTER: When did you first start acting?
JUSTIN: I first started acting when I was 13.
GLITTER: What’s it like acting on TeenNick’s Open Heart? Who do you play?
JUSTIN: Open Heart is great. I play Wes, good friend to Dylan and a hospital volunteer. It’s such a pleasure working on a show like this. Our cast and crew are amazing, and it’s exciting discovering and exploring together.
GLITTER: Describe Open Heart in only 160 words.
JUSTIN: Open Heart in 160 words… It’s invigorating, it’s exciting, and it’s non-stop. With this show you hit the ground running and you don’t stop to take a breath. Every episode brings something new and it’s a crazy journey.
GLITTER: What other shows have you been on in the past?
JUSTIN: I’ve been lucky with shows like The Latest Buzz and Degrassi under my belt. Both amazing experiences.
GLITTER: Have you acted with any of your co-stars before?
JUSTIN: I’ve had the pleasure of working with Cristine, Jacob, and Dylan all on Degrassi. All such talented actors.
GLITTER: Best concert you’ve ever been to in your life?
JUSTIN: It’s hard to say, I’ve been to many awesome concerts, but one of my most memorable was recently I saw Father John Misty play in Toronto. I didn’t want it to end. It was just incredible.
GLITTER: What advice can you give to teens going into college?
JUSTIN: Make sure you’re doing something that you love. Or if you don’t know what that is then take the time to explore different paths. There is no rush in finding something you love to do and that you’d love to do the rest of your life.
GLITTER: Favorite item I’ve ever purchased?
JUSTIN: My guitars or my record player.
GLITTER: Favorite outdoor activity?
JUSTIN: Listening to music on a dock at a cottage and sipping coffee.
GLITTER: What one movie or show do you wish you could’ve been on?
JUSTIN: The list of movies or shows I wish I could’ve been a part of is far too long but I’d say SNL, or any film directed by PT Anderson, the Coen Brothers, or Judd Apatow.
GLITTER: Do you have any upcoming projects you can tell us about?
JUSTIN: You can catch me in a show for Netflix and CityTV called Between, and in a film called Lost and Found coming soon!
