Austin Mahone talks about The Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe program
Glitter Magazine recently sat down with teen heartthrob and pop sensation, Austin Mahone, to talk about the Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe program, how others can get involved, and his recent EP, The Secret. Did you know that the best relationship advice he ever received was from Taylor Swift, or that his friend, Alex, and Austin came up with the name for his fans, the “Mahomies,” together? He also has a secret crush, but we won’t spill so you have to read on to find out who it is.
GLITTER: Tell us about your involvement with The Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe teen driving program. How is this cause important to you?
AUSTIN: I’m a new teen on the road so I think it is important to drive safe and tell my friends and fans to do the same. The fact that on average, eight teens die each day motivated me to get involved with The Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe program so we can all be safer on the road. #GetThereSafe reminds teens to slow down, wear seatbelts and stay focused and avoid distractions when driving with friends in the car. GLITTER: You recently released your EP, The Secret. What kind of music can fans expect to hear?
AUSTIN: I am really excited for fans to hear The Secret. I worked with an amazing producer, Red One, in the studio and I’m really proud of it. Fans can expect a Backstreet Boys feel to the music.
GLITTER: Is there a track your most proud of and excited for fans to hear?
AUSTIN: I produced and wrote the song “All I Ever Need” on the album, which I’m really proud of.
GLITTER: You’ll also be going overseas soon with performances in Berlin and Paris! That must be exciting for you. Will this be your first time visiting those cities?
AUSTIN: Yes, I love to travel so it’s really exciting to get to see all of these new places.
GLITTER: Talk to us about your tour life. What do you enjoy most from it?
AUSTIN: I love meeting all the fans while on the road. They’re so dedicated so it’s awesome to get out on the road and see them all. Also, my best friends come on the road with me, and we’re all on a tour bus so it’s really cool.
GLITTER: What’s one of the craziest rumors you’ve ever read about yourself?
AUSTIN: Some person wrote that my favorite sport is surfing, but I’ve never surfed in my life, so I don’t know where they got that.
GLITTER: What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever received?
AUSTIN: Taylor Swift told me to find a good girl that’s not crazy, with good morals.
GLITTER: What do you love most about your “Mahomies”? How did that name come about?
AUSTIN: I love how passionate they are! Mahomies go hard. I came up with the name myself. My best friend Alex and I were messing around a few years ago trying to come up with names if we were to ever have fans. I came up with Mahomies!
GLITTER: What’s been one of your career highlights? What do you hope to accomplish in the future?
AUSTIN: One of my career highlights has been headlining my own tour and then winning an MTV VMA, which was just amazing. In the future I hope to win many Grammys and also my other dream is to collaborate with Drake.
GLITTER: What can fans expect to see next from you?
AUSTIN: Fans can expect a full length album early next year.
GLITTER: Celebrity Crush?
AUSTIN: Rihanna.
GLITTER: Secret Crush?
AUSTIN: Vanessa Hudgens.
GLITTER: Favorite Sport?
AUSTIN: Basketball.
GLITTER: Favorite food you can’t live without?
AUSTIN: Pizza.
