Mackenzie Bourg

GLITTER: How would you describe “Heartbeat” in music terms?

MACKENZIE: “Heartbeat” is an acoustic driven, upbeat love song. It’s a touch of folk, singer-songwriter, and pop all mixed into one. There’s a chanty tag I wrote to it that all the kids seem to love nowadays, haha! Once you hear the record it’ll leave you feeling better than you did before!

GLITTER: What inspired the new single, “Heartbeat”?

MACKENZIE: Someone I feel really strongly about inspired the song, but I actually wrote it sitting on the couch one night and it turned into my favorite song off the EP. It’s a love song hidden behind a great upbeat record.

GLITTER: Will there be a video for “Heartbeat” and is there a special story tied to it that the fans may want to know about?

MACKENZIE: There’s a video set for Heartbeat. The director hasn’t been selected yet, but one thing is for sure that it will be a great video!

GLITTER: What can we expect from your new EP?

MACKENZIE: A mix of acoustic sounds with upbeat pop music. I call it organic pop. It’s all fun. I had a part in writing all the songs in some aspect on it, so these songs are all my efforts into one EP.

GLITTER: When will the new EP be released?

MACKENZIE: The exact date isn’t set just yet but I imagine in a month or less!

GLITTER: How has your sound evolved since appearing on The Voice?

MACKENZIE: I’ve grown as a musician a lot. The Voice cornered me into a certain genre in some aspects, but I found that once I got back to knowing who I was as an artist the music really started to flow and sound exactly like what I was hearing in my heart.

GLITTER: How would you explain your evolution in music since appearing on The Voice?

MACKENZIE: My sound is more focused on the musicality of the songs. A lot of efforts went into the EP and I spent a whole bunch of time and energy making sure this was exactly right. Everything you hear has a purpose, a reason, and a meaning. I’m proud to stamp my name behind this record.

GLITTER: Will you be touring once the new EP is released?

MACKENZIE: I plan on doing some west coast dates, as well as some dates back home in Louisiana. I’m open to shows anywhere!
