Leroy Sanchez describes his music as epic pop
Leroy Sanchez started singing at a young age and hasn’t stopped ever since. He can play both the guitar and keyboard by ear. His favorite song that he’s written so far is “Little Dancer,” and he describes his music as epic pop. What is epic pop? Read on to find out all about that and who he’d love to collaborate with.
GLITTER: When did you start singing?
LEROY: I’ve been singing since I was very little, around 5 or 6.
GLITTER: What musical instruments do you play? Are you able to play music by ear?
LEROY: I play guitar and a little bit of keyboard, both by ear.
GLITTER: What song of yours do you think would be the most influential song you’ve written so far and why?
LEROY: Probably “Little Dancer.” The message behind the song is so strong and empowering- it’s never too late to follow your dreams!
GLITTER: How would you describe your sound?
LEROY: I like calling it Epic Pop. It’s a mixture between pop melodies and progressions with a very big musical, and cinematic production behind it.
GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
LEROY: There are so many artists I’d love to work with… I would love to collaborate with James Morrison because I’ve been listening to his music for a long time, and I’m a very big fan of his.
GLITTER: If you could have dinner with anyone alive or dead, who would it be and why?
LEROY: I would love to have dinner with Malala Yousafzai, she’s so inspiring! Such a brave young lady.
GLITTER: What’s your favorite pastime?
LEROY: I love drawing/painting and running. It’s like a therapy for me besides music and writing. It clears up my head and helps putting my thoughts in order.
GLITTER: Who are some of your biggest influences?
LEROY: My earliest influences come mainly from Top 40 radio; that’s all I’d listen to back in Spain. Also James Morrison, Beyonce, and John Mayer are some of the biggest.
GLITTER: What advice do you have for aspiring musicians?
LEROY: Be patient and focus on your passion. Don’t let other things get in the way of what you love. Put your entire heart, soul, and being into your music so it’s true to yourself.
GLITTER: Tell us about your work with CoachArt.
LEROY: It’s such a blessing having the chance to work with CoachArt. They are an incredible organization and I’m so glad I was able to help some of the kids they work with. These kids are true fighters and they’ve gone through so much… I love working with them because every time I meet them they have something new to teach me.
GLITTER: What can you tell us about your upcoming release? What is your favorite song?
LEROY: I’m beyond excited for this release since it’s the first time for me! It’s a very personal piece, and every song is like a piece of me. It’s a project I’ve been working on since I came to the United States (almost 4 years now). It’s been an incredible journey, and I tried my best to portray show that. I can’t choose a favorite song since every song is so special!
GLITTER: Where are you performing right now?
LEROY: All around the US, especially around California which is where I’m currently based.

GLITTER: What’s your favorite trend right now?
LEROY: I love how people are doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It’s such an incredible campaign that has massively increased awareness of the illness, and has raised so much money for research!
GLITTER: What’s your favorite thing about the fall season?
LEROY: The best thing about fall is the weather. I love when it starts cooling down, it reminds me of home.
