Pop Sensation Austin Mahone Asks Teens to #GetThereSafe
Glitter Magazine recently sat down with teen heartthrob and pop sensation, Austin Mahone, to talk about the new Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe program and how others can get involved. Do you want to know how to get his attention during one of his summer shows? Did you know he has a favorite pick-up line? No? He does. Read on to find out all about Austin Mahone, the new Allstate Foundation, #GetThereSafe program and his new EP.
GLITTER: You’re going on tour this summer all across North America. What do you love most about touring?
AUSTIN: I love meeting all the fans while on the road, they are so dedicated so it’s awesome to get out on the road and see them all. Also, my best friends come on the road with me, we have a blast together playing pranks on each other.
GLITTER: How can fans get your attention during the show?
AUSTIN: It’s really awesome to see signs in the crowd! Mahomies work really hard on them and it’s awesome.
GLITTER: You recently got started with The Allstate Foundation #GetThereSafe teen driving program. What is this cause about and how can others get involved?
AUSTIN: Car crashes are the number one cause of death of American teens. I couldn’t believe it when I learned that. So, as a new driver, I teamed with The Allstate Foundation to encourage teens to drive smart and spread the word among their friends to do the same. I’m helping to remind my fans to do three simple things when driving: slow down, wear their seatbelts and stay focused by not being distracted by friends in the car. By getting the word out, we can help save lives.

As an added incentive to drive smart, I’m going to be stopping by one high school this fall to meet with fans. It’s easy to enter, you just need to download the free #GetThereSafe app and post pictures to show where and how you get to your destination safely. GLITTER: Your EP, The Secret, will be releasing on May 27th! How did you come up with the album title?
AUSTIN: Because its kind of been my secret project for the past two years, everyone has been waiting and asking what I’m working on, so now here it is. Not a secret anymore.
GLITTER: How will this EP be different from the music you released so far?
AUSTIN: I’ve grown and matured a lot over the past year and my music reflects that. The more experiences I have, the more I have to sing about and the more my music changes.
GLITTER: What advice do you have to aspiring musicians?
AUSTIN: Never give up on your dreams.
GLITTER: What song has been a crowd favorite?
AUSTIN: The crowd favorite is definitely “U” because I pick one girl from the audience to come on stage and I sing it to her.
GLITTER: What song is your favorite?
AUSTIN: Right now I really love “Shadow” and also “All I Ever Need” from my new EP.
GLITTER: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why?
AUSTIN: Drake because he’s one of my biggest musical influences.
GLITTER: What’s your favorite pick-up line?
AUSTIN: “Do you know how much a polar bear weighs? Enough to break the ice, hi I’m Austin Mahone.”
GLITTER: What’s the best advice for asking your crush out on a date?
AUSTIN: Count to three and just do it.
