GLITTER: How do you like to get a girls attention?

CODY: You have to be yourself. You can’t act like someone else. You have to be confident enough to start it off and get her attention, but you can’t act like you are trying too hard. It’s a very fine line, and it takes a while to learn that. I think it’s important to stay true to yourself, smile, and be happy and forthright.

GLITTER: Do you like a girl who takes the lead? Or do you prefer to make the first move?

CODY: I would like a girl that takes initiative and obviously has some confidence. She has to be natural. And then once you’re in a relationship, it’s kind of an even balance between the girl and the guy.

GLITTER: What would be your perfect Valentines date?

CODY: Probably by the beach, that would be my ideal kind of day. A restaurant on the beach, at sunset. Definitely not something lavish. As the girl receives loving words of affection.

GLITTER: What would you gift to someone on Valentine’s Day?

CODY: As far as gifts for a girl, what I’ve done is like a poem or a song. Things that you have to put effort into and listening to what they want. Things that require time, more so than chocolates. I obviously love things like that too, but that main thing for me is doing something that’s really personal.

GLITTER: So how will you be spending your Valentine’s Day this year?

CODY: I’ll actually be in the studio by myself with a bunch of guys making music. I won’t be able to do it with my girlfriend. I’m going to go a couple days later and we’re going to have our own Valentine’s day. We’re going to do a little late one. I’ll make it special.

GLITTER: Do you have a favorite love song right now?

CODY: My favorite love song now and of all time is “I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You” by Elvis Presley. It’s my go to karaoke. It’s my serenade song. It’s everything.

GLITTER: That’s a great song. So speaking of music, you have a new music video out for your single “LOVE.” Tell us about that.

CODY: It’s myself and my mate Flo. He’s from Paris. He directed it. He’s one of my best friends, and he’s coming on tour with me. He loves the song, and he wanted to film a neat video for it. Our idea was to get it out before Valentine’s Day. For the concept, I wanted to have a young kid who looked like me around nine. And we shot the video of the cute scenes between a kid and a girl. Then we mixed in these scenes of myself and Ziggy Marley performing it and it’s really cool. It’s a story of these two young kids and it’s a really cute video.

GLITTER: What’s the meaning behind the song for you personally?

CODY: I write a lot of music about love. It’s one of those things where you never run out of inspiration and obviously those kinds of inspirations will change as time goes on. When you get older, you experience different kinds of love. As you get older, it goes from infatuation with this cute girl and having a “summer love,” to knowing it’s going to last longer than summer.

GLITTER: Do you have a favorite song you’ve written so far?

CODY: My favorite songs that I’ve written are always the latest songs that I’ve written. I’m really looking forward to this year’s album. I’ve just started working on it last week, and everything that’s come up so far has been really, really cool. It’s really a big step up as far as new music.

GLITTER: Have you been experimenting with different sounds?

CODY: Yeah, I’ve been so frustrated and trying to experiment and come up with new sounds. I’ve been trying to come up with a new album that’s a step up. I really want to do it right, and it will all come together and I’m really excited.

GLITTER: Is there anything you want to tell your fans about your upcoming projects or anything personal from you?

CODY: Oh gosh, that I love them. All the fans came out to see me, and I’m just really looking forward to keeping on keeping on with them.

GLITTER: Has there been any fan experience that meant something to you?

CODY: I’ve had experiences where I’ve been told I’ve saved girls’ lives. It’s a very strange thing to think about. They’ve told me that I’ve actually helped them through tough times. That is a really intense thing to hear, and be told. Those things give me good perspective and make me never want to stop doing it, because I’ve had a big impact on some people. It’s a really beautiful thing, and that’s really humbled me.

GLITTER: You also had mentioned you want to tour more.

CODY: Yeah, I probably want to do more international stuff. I haven’t been to Europe in a little while, so I want to do that, possibly South America and Australia and stuff.

[Editor’s note: When saying our goodbyes, Cody talked to me about really wanting to get on the road, because he loves to see you and meet you guys! How sweet is he?]
