fifthharmonyGlitter is in love with Fifth Harmony’s, well, harmony! These women know how to sing and dig in deep into their souls. Their songs are passionate, emotional and fun-loving at the same time and we love that about them. The girls of Fifth Harmony sat down with us to talk about what it was like to be on last season’s The X Factor, what it was like being mentored by Simon, who they draw their musical inspiration from, joining Demi Lovato on her Neon Lights tour, and their new EP, Better Together. Read on to find out more about these amazing ladies!

GLITTER: What was it like being on The X Factor last season?
FIFTH HARMONY: Being on The X Factor was an emotional roller-coaster. We did things we never would have even dreamed of doing before, so it was incredible and surreal in every way.

GLITTER: What was it like being mentored by Simon Cowell?
FIFTH HARMONY: It was awesome!! Simon was really, really sweet, and he let us kind of have a lot of input on everything, and we would follow his advice, and we would give him input in everything. He was really open to that, and it was awesome! He’s a genius.

GLITTER: Who do you draw musical inspiration from?
FIFTH HARMONY: We all have different music inspirations, but I think collectively it would be Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift.

GLITTER: Do you get nervous before getting on stage? Do you have any pre-show rituals?
FIFTH HARMONY: Before we go on stage, we always pray. We actually hold hands with each other, and if there’s anyone around, we usually include them in the prayer too, like crew members or family members. But as far as being nervous goes, I personally get more excited than nervous usually, but like right before you go on there’s always that little hint of “Oh my gosh! We’re about to go on!” But, it goes away when you go out and you hear the crowd screaming.

GLITTER: When will your EP be out in stores and where can people find it?
FIFTH HARMONY: It’ll be out on Oct. 22, and you can find it in Target, Walmart, or Best Buy and you can even pre-order it right now on iTunes before it’s sold commercially.

GLITTER: What is your favorite song from your EP, Better Together?
FIFTH HARMONY: There is a ballad on our EP that we can all agree is one of our favorite songs. Basically it talks about a guy changing, like whether he’s nice today or mean tomorrow. Basically he’s unpredictable. It’s called “Who Are You.”

GLITTER: You’re about to join Demi Lovato on her Neon Lights tour. Are you girls excited?
FIFTH HARMONY: Absolutely, we’re so excited. Especially since she was a judge on The X Factor and we were a fan previously. And now, to be on her tour, and she invited us, is seriously so incredible. And we can NOT wait. It’s going to be so much fun.

GLITTER: I bet you wish it was tomorrow!
FIFTH HARMONY: Yeah!!!!

GLITTER: What can fans expect from the tour? Will you be performing any new songs?
FIFTH HARMONY: We’ll have some surprises coming up.

GLITTER: What song do you enjoy most performing for your fans?
LAUREN: Personally, I like performing “Don’t Wanna Dance Alone.” I think it’s really fun, because it’s a dance song and very high energy and ‘WOO!! PARTY!!’ Haha.”
DINAH: For me, it would be “Me and My Girls” because I’m in love with the beat and stuff.
NORMANI: “Better Together.”
ALLY: It’s a tie between “Better Together” and “Who Are You.”
CAMILA: “Leave My Heart Out Of This” since it’s the only one left. And it’s a really cool song.

GLITTER: Many of your YouTube covers have been praised by the original artists themselves, what is it like to have them praise your work and who has been your favorite artist that has praised you about your cover of their song?
FIFTH HARMONY: Ed Sheeran!!

GLITTER: What female artists or groups inspire you?
FIFTH HARMONY: Destiny’s Child and The Spice Girls have both inspired us, because they are both so iconic and so talented. They both left their mark on not only us specific, but the world. The music’s amazing and their personalities were amazing and so much fun.

GLITTER: What has been the craziest or most memorable thing that you received from your Harmonizers?
FIFTH HARMONY: One girl told us that every birthday her and her father would go to the store to get bracelets, and he passed away after the day that we met her on the Cher Lloyd tour, and she basically gave us some of the bracelets that her and her dad bought. That had to be our most memorable moment.

GLITTER: Who would you love to collaborate with?
FIFTH HARMONY: Demi. Or Ed Sheeran. And One Direction.

GLITTER: What advice can you give to those wanting to pursue a career in music?
FIFTH HARMONY: Always be authentic, and make sure that you believe in what you’re doing. Because one of the most important things about an artist is being true to who they are.

GLITTER: Do you recommend the X Factor?
FIFTH HARMONY: Yeah! I think it’s an amazing platform to get someone started.

GLITTER: Describe what you do in your downtime.
ALLY: Oooh. I hang out with friends, and then I eat and sleep, and watch TV.
LAUREN: I usually catch up on TV shows on Netflix. I go on Tumblr, write, read, and hang out with friends. And sleep. Haha.
