Interview with Cameron Deane Stewart on Geography Club

Glitter Magazine recently sat down with Cameron Deane Stewart to talk about his role in Geography Club and his favorite roles so far. We also ask him who his favorite artist is. Bet you can’t guess what his answer is!

GLITTER: As an actor, you get to play all types of different characters. What has been one of your favorite roles to play so far?
CAMERON: I truly think my character Russell in Geography Club is such an incredible character and one of my favorites. He’s your every man, your ordinary, lost high schooler; yet, shows moments of extraordinary strength and complete vulnerability. That’s why I was drawn to him. However, I also played an Amish character named Daniel in a Hallmark movie called The Confession. That was a blast, accents make everything better!

GLITTER: Being an actor can keep you very busy. What do you enjoy doing on your time off?
CAMERON: Despite my pasty complexion, the occasional beach day sneaks into my life from time to time. I think now I’m mostly enjoying the outdoors as much as I can because fall weather is my favorite! Hikes, etc.

GLITTER: From all the roles you’ve taken on so far, is there one character you’ve been able to relate to the most?
CAMERON: Its hard to say, I feel like each role I’ve played has showcased a piece of who I am as a person. I definitely relate to Russell’s inability to connect with a specific group in high school. Which now that I think about it, somewhat mirrors itself in my character Matt in Bad Kids Go To Hell. High school is rough people!

GLITTER: Besides film, you’ve also appeared on TV shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. What was your character like?
CAMERON: In the simplest form, he was a motocross competitor who’s hiding a secret to protect a loved one.

GLITTER: Do you have any embarrassing moments on set you can share with us?
CAMERON: I feel like I have fifty. While shooting a confrontational scene between Russell and Gunnar in Geography Club, my cell phone went off during filming. I immediately got that knot in my stomach, and “fessed up.” Looking back, I wish I would have answered and incorporated it into the scene. Or blamed it on someone else.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about any upcoming projects you have?
CAMERON: I never really know what all I can reveal, but I can at least say I’m recurring on both Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally and CW’s Star Crossed. Two very different characters!

GLITTER: Are you on any social networks fans can interact with you on?
CAMERON: Yes. I finally gave in after years of huffing and puffing. I’m on Instagram @Camerondeanestewart, and twitter @camdeanestewart.

GLITTER: Working on all these projects, you’ve probably worked with plenty of talented actors. Who has been one of your favorite to work with?
CAMERON: I worked with Marin Hinkle on Geography Club (Kevin Land’s mom) and she was absolutely fantastic. I loved watching her little nuances. She made such an impact on me as a person and actor. Wonderful energy! I also really enjoyed working with Anna Kendrick. I think she is incredible talented.

GLITTER: If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?
CAMERON: I feel like the moon is a big one for me. I don’t know why, I just think it would be so cool to have a different perspective on our planet. Although, after seeing Gravity, I may just stick with Italy.

GLITTER: Do you have a favorite artist?
CAMERON: Thomas Kinkade. No, I’m kidding. Probably Rascal Flatts. I’m still a country boy at heart. Texas Grown.
