We sat down with Laura for a quick chat on the bullying prevention campaign and what’s she’s up to next.

GLITTER: What are you working on right now?

LAURA: I’m currently shooting the third season of Austin and Ally, which has been incredibly fun! We already were pretty close when we started filming the first season, but we somehow have managed to get even closer over the years. It’s been amazing!

GLITTER: Why did you get involved in CustomInk’s Be Good to Each Other campaign?

LAURA: I’m so happy I got to be involved with this campaign because it really enforces an ideal that is really important to me. I wholeheartedly believe that we all deserve each other’s love and respect, and that’s basically the main point of CustomInk’s Be Good to Each Other campaign. We need to be supportive of one another, and focus on the positive. The fact that there are a lot of people in the world today who are depressed and lonely because of bullying is not only devastating, but also completely unnecessary. There is absolutely no positives or benefits to bullying.

GLITTER: Have you ever been bullied before?

LAURA: I thankfully have never been bullied before, but I have known multiple people who have had that horrible experience. I have seen how hurt and upset people can get because of other people’s words and actions.

GLITTER: How did you rise above the occasion and not become a victim?

LAURA: I think the most important thing people who are getting bullied can do is surround themselves with positive people. Get rid of anything in their life that leads to the bully, and immerse yourself in completely different things.

GLITTER: What can people do if they see someone else being bullied?

LAURA: There are so many things people can do if they see someone else being bullied! First, tell an authoritative figure about it. Whether it is a parent or a teacher, just tell someone! Second, console the person that is being bullied. That person is usually feeling pretty insecure and depressed, and probably just really needs a friend. Third, one of the most challenging, yet most rewarding thing to do is stand up to that bully yourself. When you see someone getting bullied, speak up. It’s definitely a scary position to be in at first, but I promise you, standing up for what is right is one of the most fulfilling actions a person can do.

GLITTER: What can we see you in next and what charities are you working with currently and how can others get involved?

LAURA: The season three premiere of Austin and Ally is October 27th, so I cannot wait for everyone to see it! I’m also super excited to say that I’m the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF ambassador this year, and I am really urging everyone to get involved; whether you are a parent, teenager, or young child, you can help! Order your Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF boxes on TrickorTreatforUnicef.org, and on Halloween night, collect funds for UNICEF while you Trick-or-Treat. These funds help kids all around the world who need clean water, food, education materials, and so much more!
