Check out Cody Simpson’s latest FULL interview!

Glitter Magazine loves Cody Simpson. Can’t you tell? But this dynamic singer is more than a pretty face. His catchy songs are everywhere, including his latest single, “Pretty Brown Eyes.” Cody recently sat down with Glitter Magazine to talk about his latest album, upcoming autobiography, his involvement in the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign, his fans, and his summer plans.

GLITTER: Your latest single is “Pretty Brown Eyes.” What can you tell us about the song?
CODY: “Pretty Brown Eyes” is a fun summer anthem I created to reach a universal audience. Everywhere you go, you see pretty girls with brown eyes.

GLITTER: What has the reaction from the fans been like?
CODY: The reaction has been amazing thus far. The support from the fans has really produced an incredible hype around the single. I’m so appreciative of them supporting me on my journey.

GLITTER: What kind of songs do you like to write the most?
CODY: I’m a mellow type of dude and I think it shows in my music. I love writing acoustic tunes with beachy vibes, and of course, songs about girls.

GLITTER: Tell us about your new album Surfers Paradise. How will this album be different from your previous one?
CODY: My sound has really matured since the last album. I think everyone is in for a real surprise when they listen. I don’t want to give away too many secrets!

GLITTER: How does it feel to have your own headlining tour? Do you still get nervous before stepping out onto the stage?
CODY: I feel incredibly grateful to be headlining my own tour this summer. I’ve worked tirelessly to ensure this would happen for my fans and it’s coming together wonderfully. Occasionally I’ll get the pre-show jitters, but they always disappear once I step through the curtain and feel the rush of the crowd.

GLITTER: You recently announced during each show you’ll be bringing a fan up on stage to sing to. What will you look out for that will help you decide who to bring up?
CODY: Correct! I’m looking for enthusiasm. If you’re dancing, singing, and having a blast, chances are you might get picked.

GLITTER: For those who don’t know, you’ll be releasing your autobiography this October. What can readers expect from the book?
CODY: I really opened up when writing the book. I shared stories I’ve never told and included photos which have never been seen before. I’m excited to give people another perspective of my life.

GLITTER: Tell us about your involvement in the Child Hunger Ends Here campaign. How important is this cause to you?
CODY: Being involved with this campaign really opened my eyes. I got involved in hopes of others joining me to put an end to hunger right here in America. It’s crazy to think 1 in 5 children don’t know where their next meal is coming from. I encourage everyone to get involved.

GLITTER: What does your perfect summer day sound like?
CODY: Ocean. Surf. Sun. Mellow tunes. Mates. Good vibes.

GLITTER: Do you have fun summer plans?
CODY: I’m spending my summer touring across the US & Canada. I’m itching to get back on the road and hang with my tour crew. We have a good bunch of blokes out with us so we should have a blast. Hopefully I’ll be able to sneak in a surf or two as well!

GLITTER: Which has been your favorite song to perform live?
CODY: Any song that I can sit down with my guitar and really get personal with my audience. I love being intimate and connecting with my fans when I perform live.

GLITTER: What’s the best part about recording an album? What do all the positive responses from your fans mean to you?
CODY: The best part about recording an album is being able to create art based off of experiences I’ve had in my life. Being able to express myself, and translate my feelings into music and art. It means so much to me hearing a record finally come together, and my fans just loving it. The moment I hear the positives responses from my fans after I release a song, I know that all of my hard work has paid off!

GLITTER: You’ve recently appeared on an episode of NBC’s The Biggest Loser to visit a contestant and fan who has been bullied in school. What advice do you have to those dealing with bullying?
CODY: Bullying is a topic close to my heart, even something that I experience online every day! It’s important to always know in your heart who the bigger person is. Never keep it on your chest, because that can bring you down even further. Stay strong and talk to a person you trust, and know that you’re never alone.
