CELEBRITY

Cody Simpson Bonus Web interview!

GLITTER: Do you have a favorite song on the album?
CODY: Yeah, I do. I really like this one I wrote called Gentleman. It’s an acoustic song, something that’s really sweet, romantic, something that I wrote for my fans.
GLITTER: What is your favorite part of being on tour?
CODY: Performing every night and seeing my fans smile when I’m up on stage and seeing them getting super buzzed and singing along to every line and waving their hands. It’s a really cool feeling.
GLITTER: What has been your favorite place to visit so far on tour?
CODY: Ah, that’s a hard question. I don’t know!
GLITTER: (laughs): Maybe going back home?
CODY: Yeah, going back home is always fun. Seeing my mates and performing in my local spots that I know. It’s cool. I love Miami. Miami, Florida, is always fun to visit. It reminds me of home.
GLITTER:What do you like to do in your free time while you’re on tour?
CODY: I like to go see movies. The movie kind of takes your mind off of everything that’s going on on the road. I like being able to go and relax and take a break from it and stuff.
GLITTER: Can you tell us anything about your video for Got me Good?
CODY: It’s a real beach / surfing / lifestyle video. We shot it down in Malibu for a day and it’s very very chill and really relaxed, fun video. They put the little camera on my surfboard while I was out on the water. It was a really fun day.
GLITTER: What was the process like of going from the music itself to a visual representation of it?
CODY: Well, it’s cool that you can turn a story musically into a story visually. I like being able to do that. It’s always a good time. I love making music videos. It’s one of the highlights of what I do.
GLITTER: So, I watched you on MTV’s Punk’d. Can you give us a version of the thoughts going through your head at the time?
CODY: I can, yeah. They set it up throughout the whole day so I really wasn’t expecting anything, you know. I had no clue I was being punk’d.
GLITTER: Of course not!
CODY: I totally thought it was a home attack / legitimate situation. I thought we were being robbed. I was totally clueless as to what was happening because it was just such an absurd situation. They got me right . . . They came and revealed it to me right before I think I started crying or. . . They came out at the perfect time, I think. Right before it started getting crazy and they started smashing my guitars and stuff. It was horrible.
GLITTER: And one last question: what has been your favorite fan moment so far?
CODY: I have a lot of those! That’s real difficult for me to say. I love when fans make me their scrapbooks and stuff. A lot of my shows are planned months ahead so when fans come to me and tell me “oh this took four months to make and I worked very hard on this.” Stuff they make at home. It means a lot to me when they do that kind of stuff. Things that a lot of thought went into.
