Interview with Diggy Simmons
If you have ever watched MTV’s “Run’s House,” then you’ve already fallen in love with Diggy Simmons. This fashion guru turned rapper is quickly becoming an A-list celeb in young Hollywood. He recently signed a label deal with Atlantic Records! With over 800,000 followers on Twitter and a well read blog, Diggy Simmons uses social media to connect with his fans and share his music with the world. Diggy Simmons is a reminder that anyone can follow their dreams, no matter what age!
GLITTER: What is it like coming from such a musical family?
DIGGY: Family life is pretty normal to me. I’m truly blessed to come from a musical family but I see my family as anyone else would view their dad and mom.
GLITTER: What was your favorite thing about the “Copy, Paste” video shoot?
DIGGY: The process of shooting the video was a one of a kind experience. The overall synergy on set made the experience incredible. Everyone working towards one main goal, delivering an incredible visual piece of work.
GLITTER: What can we look forward to on your debut album?
DIGGY: You can look forward to a lot of honest relatable substance conceptually, mixed with incredible production. My album is far greater than I expected, people are going to be shocked.
GLITTER: Do you prefer going on tour or being in the studio? Why?
DIGGY: I love both equally. Studio is amazing as I get to put all of my feelings on a canvas to express myself through music. Being on the stage is equally pleasing as I get an adrenaline rush from being able to interact with my fans. That is an indescribable feeling when I’m up there.
GLITTER: How do you prepare for a tour?
DIGGY: There’s a lot of preparation that goes into my performances to ensure I make the experience feel as intimate as possible. DJ Spinking and I developed a stage show that I was really proud of for my first tour.
GLITTER: What is the best advice you ever got from your parents?
DIGGY: The best advice I ever got from my parents is not caring about anything that people say and give it my very best!!!
GLITTER: You have been known for your fashion sense. How would you describe your style?
DIGGY: My style is just me, with dashes of different things I like, whether its street wear inspired (like Jordans, snap backs, BBC, etc) or more preppy wardrobe (DSquared, Band of Outsiders, etc)
GLITTER: What fellow musician do you admire and why?
DIGGY: My bro Lil Twist, he has a great work ethic and he’s a talented artist.
GLITTER: Are you an “out on the town” type of guy or a homebody?
DIGGY: Out of town guy
GLITTER: If you weren’t a rapper, what career path would you want to follow?
DIGGY: Fashion
GLITTER: What was the process for getting your sneaker line, Chiv Culture, started?
DIGGY: I’m a fan of sneakers and knew it was the right fit when Vida Distribution approached me to launch a sneaker line.
