Interview with Cody Simpson!

Cody Simpson is the latest heartthrob to hit the teen scene. It all began with his humble beginnings as a Youtube sensation. After catching the eye of Shawn Campbell, a major record producer, Simpson began his rise to the top. With his chart-topper “iYiYi” featuring Flo-Rida, Cody gained popularity and went on his first American tour. The Camplified 2010 tour was a huge hit and he later went on the “Waiting 4U tour” with teen dream Greyson Chance, sharing his music across the country. Now, Cody is enjoying his time in the limelight by putting his fans and his music first.

GLITTER: Do you prefer recording or touring more?
CODY: I love both, but I personally prefer touring more than recording. You can perform the songs you’ve recorded and watch people enjoy the songs. You also get to see so many parts of the world while on tour and it’s just a fantastic experience.

GLITTER: How do you feel about recent comparisons to Justin Bieber?
CODY: Justin is a great guy and is super talented. It’s not as though Justin and I haven’t met before. We have, many times. He’s been in the music business for much longer than I have but he’s been very supportive of what I do. I’m a big fan of his.
GLITTER: How has your newfound fame changed your life?
CODY: It definitely has, in a very positive way. Life is much busier and much more of a good time than before. I’m grateful for everything that’s happened in my life so far. I wouldn’t change a thing.

GLITTER: If you could work with any artist, who would it be and why?
CODY: I’d work with Justin Timberlake. Such an inspiration to me. My ultimate would be to go down to Hawaii and write a few songs on the beach with Jack Johnson.

GLITTER: Do you prefer ballads or uptempo songs? Which reflect your personality?
CODY: Good music is good music, and what I listen to kinda depends on what mood I’m in. If I’m not doing anything, I’ll sit back and listen to some Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz. But before a show, I like to listen to Chris Brown and Kanye West. I think my personality is more of a chill kind of vibe though.

GLITTER: What was the craziest thing to happen to you on tour?
CODY: I was in Sydney, Australia (my home nation) performing in a mall. Too many girls showed up for security to handle and the mall’s interior was getting ruined because of the amount of people inside. It had to be shut down and I could only perform 3 songs.

GLITTER: What was your first big purchase after your big break?
CODY: I actually haven’t purchased much! I’m
saving! Although I did buy myself a nice big cruiser board..

GLITTER: Many of your fans call you a heart throb. What qualities do you look for in a girl?
CODY: I look for a stylish girl that is kind, generous, natural and relaxed. A girl that can goof off and have a good time.

GLITTER: Do you miss recording Youtube covers?
CODY: To be honest, I don’t really! I love everything being as professional as it is now!

GLITTER: What is your favorite thing about being a musician?
CODY: Knowing that I am blessed enough to wake up and know that every day I am living the dream. And to know I am inspiring so many people out in the world.
