Another Rockin’ Allstar Weekend Interview!

After swaying audiences with their smooth melodies and catchy lyrics, Allstar Weekend returns to the pop rock scene with their sophomore album – destined to be another chart topper! Gaining exposure after their popular multi-city tour, the buzz behind Allstar Weekend is picking up steam and with good reason. Glitter Magazine got an exclusive interview with America’s dreamiest boy band.

What is the title of your new album and when is it going to drop (in stores and on iTunes)?

ZACH: Our new album is called ‘All The Way’ and it’s going to be released in late June or July.

What inspired you to write the songs on the album?

ZACH: This album is inspired by our lifestyle. We’re away from home, no longer teenagers but we’re not at the point in our lives where we’re about to settle down and raise a family. The songs on this record represent the adventures, relationships, and ups and downs of our lifestyle. This album is for people who have reached this point in their lives, people that are living this point in their lives, and also a reminder to the older generations of the past. It’s a weird but cool mix of Gung-ho-let’s-go-out-and-face-the-world and nostalgia.

How is your new album different than ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Suddenly Yours’? Does the album have a more mature sound because of your many experiences in the business over the past year?

ZACH: A lot of people have been using the description, “more mature” to describe our new music. I think more than “more mature” it’s the natural progression of our work. We’ve actually delved deeper this time into what originally got us into music in the first place. This record is more of what we’ve always been about than our first record. The experiences of ‘Suddenly Yours’ have brought us to a point in our career where we can make an album that is really what we’re about. I think the biggest difference between the new album and ‘Suddenly Yours’ is that we’ve spent more time developing a signature sound. This album, more than ever, is very Allstar Weekend sounding. Although some of these sounds people are familiar with from ‘Suddenly Yours’, different elements from our musical backgrounds have come out. This isn’t a straight pop-punk/dance album. There’s soul, rock n’ roll, hip hop and more.

What are your plans this summer? Will there be a tour solely for promoting this album, just like the ‘Suddenly’ and ‘Suddenly Yours’ Tour?
ZACH: We haven’t talked about a tour for the new album yet. But we will be on tour with Selena Gomez all summer.

You guys have a great fashion sense. Who styles your outfits for concerts?

ZACH: On a day-to-day basis we dress ourselves (for better or worse). When we do photo shoots and video shoots our good friend and stylist Moses Moreno dresses us. He’s introduced us to a lot of cool fashion that had never been on our radars.

If you could choose the general age of your fan base, what age would you choose?

ZACH: We’re just crazy glad we have fans. It never matters how old you are, what you look like, where you come from. A fan is a fan, and we’re thankful.

Even though you all have diverse personalities, what interests bring you all together as friends?

ZACH:Music is obviously at the center of our friendship. But we spend a lot of time together doing all kinds of things. We have very similar senses of humor. Mostly when we’re not doing music, we’re just hanging out. When we’re home in San Diego we’re at the beach.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

ZACH: I like going places I’ve never been–even if it’s not exotic. We played in Knoxville, TN last Fall, definitely want to go back and visit. I like foliage.

Which Allstar Weekend song has the most meaning to each of you?
ZACH: Some of the songs on the new record have really personal meanings to me.
CAMERON: Dance Forever.
NATHAN: Dance Forever has the most meaning to me. This is a song that has been a part of the Allstar Weekend family before all of our success. It is our signature sound. And the song that everyone of all ages can relate to.
MICHAEL: All The Way – it’s a new song and I’m just feelin’ it!

What did you learn from the kids you were involved with at City of Hope?
ZACH: The kids from City of Hope reminded all of us how lucky we are to be doing this. We’re so fortunate to be healthy and to have the opportunity to follow our dreams.
