Interview with Savvy and Mandy!
Savvy and Mandy began their professional career as actors and models before making the switch to create light-hearted, toe tapping, pop hits! During childhood, sisters Savvy and Mandy learned how to sing and play the guitar and eventually, they took their talent to the main stage. They took the teen scene by storm in 2008 after the release of their first EP “Here We Are”.
Soon after, the duo beat the odds by placing two songs on Radio Disney’s Top 30 Countdown! With influences like Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson, Savvy and Mandy have a spectacular ear for music, as well as the desire to perform quality melodies all girls can relate to! Over the last two years, Savvy and Mandy have built an amazing fan base, keeping contact with their fans via “meet and greets” and webisodes chronicling their superstar travels.
Savvy and Mandy keep listeners on their toes with positive messages of girl power, confidence and inner strength set to up-tempo rock beats. Powerful vocals, high energy performances, and great lyrics solidify their place at the top of the teen charts all across the country!
What is it like to work both as sisters and business partners?
S&M: It’s great having each other to lean on for support, as well as enjoying our successes together. We pretty much agree on things and we really consider each other as our best friend, so it definitely makes it more fun!
Mandy, what three words would you use to describe your sister? Savvy, what three words would you use to describe your sister?
Savvy: Mandy is quirky, funny and talented.
Mandy: Savvy is pretty, kind, and creative.
How did it feel to have two songs on Radio Disney’s Top 30 Countdown?
S&M: It was so exciting to actually hear our music on the radio. It was a dream come true! When the songs charted, we were thrilled, and so grateful for all of our fans support. Our song “Waiting For The Heartbreak” was even voted one of the Top 50 songs of the year by Radio Disney listeners!
What are your favorite things about acting?
S&M: The freedom to be someone else and be able to express ourselves in a creative way.
What are your favorite things about singing?
S&M: We love to write songs and sing about things that people our age go through. We really want our fans to be able to relate to our music. We both love to perform, travel and meet our fans in person!
What do you love about California?
S&M: The weather is awesome and there is so much to do here! It is great for us to be close to Los Angeles, because it is the heart of the entertainment industry.
What is your favorite song and what does it say about you?
S&M: We have too many favorites to just pick one! I guess it depends on our mood 🙂
How do you come up with the concepts of your songs? What inspires you?
S&M: We sometimes draw on personal experiences, or the experiences of fans or people we know. As we said before, we want our fans to be able to relate to our songs. There is nothing better than hearing from a fan how a certain song of ours helped or inspired them.
What is the best thing about having such a large fan base?
S&M: It’s incredible! Our fans have been so supportive, and we love the chance to get to meet them at our shows. We always have public meet and greets after every performance, and it is so fun to get the opportunity to see everyone in person. We love our fans!
What musical accomplishment do you hope to achieve in your career?
S&M: Everything! We feel so fortunate to be able to pursue our dream and do what we love. We are very thankful!
Any advice for other Girls Who Rock?
S&M: Practice, perform any chance you get, don’t give up, and follow your dreams!
