Check out Glitter Magazine’s exclusive interview with Bella and Zendaya below!

How do you identify with your character?
BELLA: Cece and I are a lot alike, we both share dyslexia, are into fashion and love to dance. We also love our family and bffs.
ZENDAYA: My character and I are a lot alike, we are both goodie-two-shoes of the bunch. We love school and we like to excel in school and we are both trying to do the right things and help our friends and just be good people.

How do you differ from your character?
BELLA: Well sometimes I am clueless like Cece but she is maybe a little more clueless than me!
ZENDAYA: Rocky is definitely more shy than I am, you know, she is a reserved girl. I mean, she won’t do anything unless you push her. In ways I am the same but in other ways I’ll just go for it and I’ll just not be so shy. Just try to live my dreams. Just go for it!

Your characters have dreams of being famous dancers, what are your dreams?
BELLA:  I would like to have a career in fashion and film. I also dream of going to USC.
ZENDAYA: Well, of course I am living my dream right now with “Shake It Up”.  When I grow older I would like to complete an album.  I love to sing, so that’s definitely one of the things I want to do.  And the second I love to do fashion, I love fashion so maybe design and all that kind of stuff. And then I just want to conquer the world.

How did you get the part? I got the part after lots of auditions!
BELLA: It was a tough process!!
ZENDAYA: Well, it was a lot of hard work auditioning. I started off with an initial audition and then I went to what’s called a producer session and then I did a mix and match with other girls and I actually got to go in as both Rocky and Cece, which is kind of a different audition process. When I went in as Rocky I really felt the chemistry and when I went in with Bella it was like… it was perfect, it was the perfect match.

“Shake It Up” debuted as the second highest rated series premiere in Disney’s history. How does it feel to have this accomplishment?
BELLA: It was amazing that the audience responded to us and our hard work. We really love our fans and are very grateful for every viewer.
ZENDAYA: Words can not express how crazy this is, I mean, I am ecstatic! I am overjoyed and I just hope it continues forever and ever and ever.

Cece Jones and Rockey Blue star as background dancers, what is your favorite style of dance?
BELLA: I have become fond of hip hop.
ZENDAYA:  My favorite style of dance is hip hop. That’s the first style of dance that I really took seriously and actually learned how to do. So that’s where I started.

How would you describe your hometowns?
BELLA: I would describe my hometown as beachy and warm.
ZENDAYA: I would describe it as not a huge place, not a small place, kind of like a regular place but with really nice people and fabulous weather.

Flynn is known for his love of bacon, what are your favorite foods?
BELLA: I love Cuban food. Rice and beans are my favorite.
ZENDAYA: Well, first of all I am a vegetarian so it would never be bacon. I am definitely in love with pizza at the moment, pizza and burritos.

How many hours a week do you dance for work?
BELLA: It depends on the difficulty of the routine. I am back in classes during our hiatus and train several hours per week.
ZENDAYA: Let’s see…. it depends on the episode. If the episode involves heavy dancing material, then it may be everyday, or it may be only once a week. So it just depends on what episode it may be.

How long have you been in theater?
BELLA: I’ve never done theater. My background is in film and television.
ZENDAYA: My mom started working with the California Shakespeare Theater since I was two. I grew up at the theater and I realized that that’s what I really wanted to do and I went for it.

Any advice for other Girls Who Rock?
B&Z: To just be confident in yourself and just have peace with yourself and know that you can be the best you can be. Just go for your dreams and never let anything stop you.
