KATY PERRY TO PERFORM AT THE 2010 MTV MOVIE AWARDS

Aziz Ansari To Host LIVE Show on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm/Eastern, 8pm/Central

The stage comes alive as Katy Perry is set to perform her hit summer anthem “California Gurls” at the 2010 MTV MOVIE AWARDS. This is her live debut of the first single from her forthcoming album “Teenage Dream”, which is set for release on August 24. In addition, the cast of “Grown Ups”—Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider—Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Anna Kendrick, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Aubrey Plaza are added to the growing list of Hollywood’s hottest names to hand out popcorn awards this year. They join previously revealed performer Christina Aguilera and presenters Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Zac Efron, Jonah Hill, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Shaun White, Vanessa Hudgens, Sean “Diddy,” Combs and Russell Brand.  Hosted by Aziz Ansari, the 2010 MTV MOVIE AWARDS will be broadcast LIVE from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, CA on Sunday, June 6 at 9pm/Eastern, 8pm/Central.

MTV Video Music Awards and Grammy nominee Katy Perry burst onto the scene in 2008 with her debut ‘One of the Boys’.  The album went on to sell 5 million copies worldwide and Katy spent the following two years relentlessly touring the world.  Katy is gearing up to do it all over again with her follow up album ‘Teenage Dream’, due out August 24th, that features the first single “California Gurls” which hit #1 on iTunes just hours after its release.

Continuing its tradition for being one of the most shocking and atypical awards shows on television, this year’s show will feature three all-new and outrageous categories that include “BIGGEST BAD-ASS STAR”, “BEST SCARED-AS S**T PERFORMANCE” and “GLOBAL SUPERSTAR.” For the first time EVER in “Movie Awards” history, voting will go international as fans worldwide will be able to vote for their favorite global stars in the “GLOBAL SUPERSTAR” category by visiting their local MTV websites.

The final nominees for the 2010 MTV MOVIE AWARDS in 13 returning and all-new categories will be decided on by the fans. From March 29th – April 9th, viewers can visit MovieAwards.MTV.com (http://www.MovieAwards.MTV.com) to vote their favorite films, movie moments and actors into the final list of nominees. Then, the winner voting period commences from May 12th – June 5th.
